Around the world, 70.8 million people are displaced from their homes. This population needs support, including access to essential financial services. Without a secure way to receive or send money, protect any assets they own, or buy necessities like clothes and cell phone service, refugees lack the tools they need to start new lives.--ACCION People usually do not leave their homes unless there are serious reasons to do so. If we want to see a reduction of displaced people (migrants), the U.S. must stop the illegal invasions and wars it continues to instigate and carry out. This will only happen if the U.S., which has so much wealth, will stop being greedy and selfish, never satisfied with what it already has, and starts sharing what we have with those without. ----Don Timmerman

Prime Minister Hun Sen announced that Cambodia now prohibits the import of plastic or other recyclable material. Cambodia's decision follows similar moves by Asian countries in recent months, who have gotten fed up with the influx of foreign waste after China banned their imports in 2018. NOTES OF 21ST STREET: This morning I was listening to N.P.R which was presenting a segment of Haiku poems written by listeners. Beaches, trees, laughter, children, sunshine, wonderful aspects of summer, were the subject of the Haiku poems that were sent in. It brought beautiful summer memories to me. My joy became tears when I started to think of children and adults in the Middle East, in Central and South America, in detention centers in the U.S. The gentle joys of summer are not experienced by them because of the harsh existence they are suffering. May we all work to let people around the world live a life that allows them to be open to the miracle of the seasons. Peace, Roberta
